The Hospitality State…For Some

As reported in state and local media outlets, the Mississippi Legislature last week approved a $274 million economic incentive package for two companies to expand their operations here in the Hospitality State. $263 million of this goes to a foreign tire manufacturer to build a tire manufacturing facility in rural Hinds County. This incentive package includes the purchasing of land, the clearing of land, paving roads, as well as something the legislators call tax incentives.

Why CISA Should Terrify You

Last week, the Senate passed the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, or CISA and sent it to the House of Representatives for a vote. The stated purpose of this Bill was to speed up the rate at which information regarding hacker attempts are shared with those in the cybersecurity field. That is its stated purpose. And I must admit it sounds good on the surface. But like all laws passed by our government, the devil is in the details.
