BAMSouth.com: What are you main responsibilities at the Health Center?
Travis: My responsiblities include day-to-day cash flow management, budget monitoring, general accounting supervision and billing and collection supervision.
BAMSouth.com: Of those, is there one more personally fulfilling then others?
Travis: Overseeing the billing and collection process to enure that patients receive quality care regardless of their ability to pay and simultaneously optimizing on collections that receive to ensure that the Center is running efficiently.
BAMSouth.com: Who–or what–has been the biggest influence on your career up to now?
Travis: My decision to concentrate on accounting and finance instead of general business administration. Plus, I have to say that my husband, Jermaine, has been so influential to and for me. He supported me while I obtained my Masters degree and throughout my various career changes.
BAMSouth.com: Do you have a favorite or most inspiring book on business that you would recommend?
Travis: Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Successful People” because it focuses on proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty and human dignity.
BAMSouth.com: Finally, what is the best piece of advice you ever got coming up the ranks in your career?
Travis: It was that perseverance is crucial; never give up.
